The Demonstrator

Dr Leonard Lim graduated from NUS with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery in 1987.

Dr Lim began Ikenobo studies in 1989 in Singapore under visiting Ikenobo professors till 1990.

He further studied at Ikenobo Headquarters for a month in end 1990. Headmaster Ikenobo Sen'ei gave his approval for Dr Lim to start an Ikenobo study group on his return.

In 1993, working with Ikenobo Yuki, 46th headmaster - designate, who was resided in Singapore from 1993 till 1995 with her diplomat husband, the Ikenobo Ikebana Society Singapore Chapter was formed with Dr Lim as Founding President (to this date).

Over the years to this date, Dr Lim has shared his knowledge of Ikenobo ikebana by giving demonstrations, workshops and exhibited in and out of Singapore (in countries like Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, China, Macau, Japan, South Africa and India.)

In 2004, Dr Lim wrote "Experiencing Ikebana", a coffee table book introducing Ikenobo freestyle. In 2009, the book was revised to replace a chapter and given a new look, "Essential Ikebana".

Despite his busy work as a dental surgeon in private practice, Dr Lim conducts regular lessons and in the spring of 2014, he embarked on his formal Ikenobo education at Ikenobo Headquarters in Kyoto that requires him to travel to Kyoto four times a year.
