18th November 2014
The Kluang excursion
group assembled as early as 9.00 am at Pelangi Leisure Mall. The excited group was dressed in their nines
of sports casual equipped with a complete goody bag consisting of an umbrella,
face tissues, toiletry bag and a colourful scarf. To top that all, we even had a colourful
purple van for the trip!
The first stop was at
Air Hitam where we had the light and fluffy ‘bamboo putu mayam’ breakfast which
I think is the best that I have ever had.
After breakfast we headed towards Kluang town. On the way we stopped by to buy household
decoration items such as hanging bamboo structure, Japanese tatami mat and
other wall hanging wood structures.
A visit to the ‘Television
Brand’ coffee factory was a good experience.
We were quite shocked by the whole process procedures of coffee
manufacturing at seeing the workers working in such stuffy and hot
environment. I am now convinced that every
scoop of the coffee powder is “blood, sweat and tears”… So, please drink up your coffee and not pour away
to waste.
The next stop we went was
Claytan Ceramic, founded in 1920. Here,
there were ample designs of earthenware and tableware of unique designs to
spoil our choice. Many of us bought the
colourful plates and soup bowls.
Lunch was at the famous
‘ Tangkak Beef Noodles’ which actually
originate in Tangkak. Hence, the name
Tangkak Beef Noodle. A good many in our
group has never
been to this restaurant and most give a big thumbs up for the delicious beef
noodle soup and many of us even packed home.
Along the street, we had the ever favourite of Malaysian dessert, the
Chendol and Ice Kacang.
Aw Pottery is another
household wares and ceramic attraction in Kluang that cannot be missed. Ceramic
mosquito coil holder, garden lights, cute ceramic figurines, pots and vases are
some of the household wares that almost filled up our MPV.
Kluang is famous for
its ‘tau sah pia’. So we headed to the famous pastry shop for its wide range of
pastries from lotus seeds fillings to bean paste. As usual, every one of us came out with big
and small bags of ‘tau sah pia’
A lesson learned from the Coffee Factory "Television Brand " |
We then drove to the
serene and scenic hillslope of Gunung Lambak.
Resting at the foothills of Gunung Lambak, smelling the lush greeneries
is such an enjoyment. Here, at the
foothills, there was a small little stall selling fresh dragon fruits, guavas,
pineapples and many other local fruits. Guess what? You are right. As usual, all of us bought the fruits. It seems the whole of the excursion group are
great shoppers!
On the way back to
Johor Bahru, we stopped by Zenxin Organic Farm.
Members still manage to buy some organic vegetables home.
Delicious Nasi Tumpang from "Indonesia Corner" |
Arriving at Indonesia
Corner at Desa Cemerlang was around 7.00pm.
We had a sumptuous Nasi Tumpeng for dinner. After a whole day of eating and shopping, we
finally conclude our excursion to Kluang.
Though we were physically tired but we definitely was mentally refreshed
and recharged. I do hope and urge other members to be able to participate such
excursion should we organised again in the future.
Thank you
